Sunday night Corrie is axed

Sunday night Corrie is axed

ITV is to pull its William Ashley Sunday night episode of 'Coronation Street' as role of a communication channel vamp to make weekends a soap-free zone.
The half-hour present will directly move to 8.30pm on Fridays, with 'Emmerdale' too being ditched from Billy Sunday nights. TV audience will get an hour-long instalment on Tuesdays rather. The changes ar part of the station's new Look 2008 schedule.
Simon Shaps, ITV's Theatre director of Television, said: "We've responded to viewer feedback on 'Coronation Street' and 'Emmerdale' so that fans can catch up with their favourite soaps over fewer nights.
"One of the principal ideas slow these changes is to make the weekends on ITV1 feel special.
"We have always been the family of Saturday night amusement and we need to diversify that out to make the whole weekend on ITV1 something to look forward to.
"This has meant a wholesale spring scavenge for Friday nights with fresh comedy, drama and feature article films to catch the weekend started, and a much freshman look to Sun evenings with entertainment shaking up the historically drama-led schedule."
